getin a high ping on counter strike

i have sbc yahoo dsl and my ping is really high when i play on steam cs 1.6 it is around 2600-2900 i dunno y but i need some advise before i do something plz if u no n e thing!

Well, have you tried the version 1.5 first just to see what kind of ping you get in that?
Steam has been known to screw up with your ping and other things, but if you also lag on 1.5 then its your provider or computer.
What kind of comp do you have? Specs? exp= Ram, Processor, Harddrive, Graphics card)

Go to Monitor in Steam and disable auto-update. Happend to me before I had about 1000~ ping in all servers.

yes ive played 1.5 on my comp it was working good but little lag but now my 1.6 is good my ping is around 100 and im sure it will be betta after i upgrade my comp thx
