I think Jam means if you don't like your laptop's gfx card, you're...uh...up the creek without a paddle. ;-)

Sorta like not liking the engine in your Nissan Sentra and wanting to upgrade for a new one. Might as well buy a new car.

I don't work on laptops, but I believe the graphics chip is integrated into the motherboard & can't be changed. If you want different graphics, you'll need to buy a new laptop.

It would be too much work and effort to rebuild a laptop to get it to play your game. Get a cheap desktop computer like a 300 dollar dell then get a PCI card for it, If you only want to play games such as War Craft and things of that level.

You're not gonna do that without buying a whole new laptop. Generally speaking, laptops are not good for gaming, unless you're willing to pay the big bucks for one with either ATI Mobility Radeon X800 or nVIDIA GeForce Go 6800. An Alienware laptop with either of these graphic chips & a 3.0GHz P4 sells for $2500+

"Do you think i could slap in a decent graphics card into the destop i mentioned above and run Wow smooth?"

NO. The Dimension 4600C has a slim case, correct? Here's what one review said about upgrades:

"the low-profile case has room for just one half-height PCI card and an optional, half-height AGP alternative to the Intel 865G chipset's integrated graphics -- there's neither provision nor physical space (nor power, with a 160- instead of 250-watt power supply) for ample expansion"

http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/reviews/4912/1/

In other words, you can't easily upgrade the video with a standard video card purchased from your local CompUSA or BestBuy. Half-height (aka low profile) video cards are available, but they aren't the "norm" & I'm sure the choices are limited. Plus the power supply is too weak to handle upgrades.

If you read the posts regularly, you'll see people advising against buying OEM systems like Dell, Gateway, HP/Compaq, Sony, etc. This is a perfect example as to why.

If I were you i would up the desktop's ram to at least 512mb then get a Radeon 9600 Pro or jam's favorite Radeon 9550. Just make sure the videocard is at least 128-bit. You would easily be able to run WoW after those upgrades.

PS: Make sure you have an AGP slot before buying the card.

Oh Man, Jam Posted Minutes B4 me and pointed out a major problem. You will have Great Difficulty finding a Decent Low-Profile Card. My advice is to salvage the drives and memory from the dell and build an inexpensive athlon xp rig.

"cant i use a PCI slot?"

PCI graphics are outdated, the choices are very few (for a good card anyway), & they're much more expensive than the AGP version.

You're outta luck unless that Micron system is upgradeable, but I wouldn't invest in a PCI card.

The ATI Radeon 9600SE is 64-bit & low performance, but it's better than onboard graphics. Don't spend too much on it

I just picked up a Geforce 550 256MB PCI. I like it. Alot of ppl on these forums get too carried away with high numbers. For the lower price range the GEforce 5500 is the best on the market (that is for graphics cards with only 4 graphics pipelines) it out clocks the ATI Radeon 9250 and 9550. i think the 128mb card is actuall faster than the 256 for game play.

Moto you can use a PCI slot if that is all you have. Its a little slower than AGP but you want to run WOw right? the Geforce 5500 FX or 5250 will PCI or AGP will run Wow. You have an intergrated video card now. The Geforce 2 64mb card would kick the crap out of an intergrated card any day. Just because your numbers arnt super high doesnt mean that it wont work. Of course the really expensive ones are much much better. We all cant afford it. But like I said pretty much anything would be a vast improvement to a 64mb intergrated card.

As for Ram 256 will work fine 512 is more than youll need unless you do online gaming. But if you MB can handle it you should use PC3200 DDR ram that way your ram runs at 400Mhz Pc2700 is ok too thats 333Mhz
