I have problems playing games on my computer.

I have an Inno3d Nvidia 7300 GT with latest driver connected to an ASUS S533-X motherboard

The problem is when I play games (WoW, Warcraft 3, Oblivion etc...not including StarCraft though), on a certain point (no specific area) the screen just freezes but when I listen to the background, the game is still ongoing then I will close the game and try to run it again, then a DirectX 9.0c message appears saying "(game) was unable to start up 3d acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video card drivers are up-to-date"

After that i would just restart my computer and i would be able to play again.

There are also some instances that I get a BSOD or an error message pertaining to nv4_disp.

Things that i've already tried:

* Reinstalling my video card with different drivers (CD driver, 93.X, 163.X) and also used Driver Cleaner Pro to clean out all drivers before reinstalling

* Doing DxDiag before the error happens, everything is OK

* Tried my GeForce 6600, same thing happens

When i do DxDiag after the error occurs, here are the error messages from the logs when doing Direct3d tests

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)

* Downloaded new distro version of DX 9.0c

* Re-formatted my computer

I'm thinking that this might be a compatibility issue with my board? or AGP slot problems? or just a software issue?

If you have any suggestions, or more things to do regarding this problem, I would greatly appreciate that. Because that error is so bugging me that i'm on the verge of throwing my computer outside the window.

Thanks!

I'm kinda noob, but if re-formating didnt work then it must be an hardware issue and if another GFX card didnt work either then it should be the motherboard...this is all i know-_-'

Try to asking to a computer shop

Sorry I cant be much help

To begin with, you have a crappy motherboard & a crappy video card.

If the BSOD stated something about "nv4_disp", it's obviously a driver issue. Make sure you've compltely installed the old drivers, then install the latest AGP (GART) driver from SiS & the lastest nVidia graphics driver (v163.75).

You may also wanna check to see if any game patches are available.
