Overheating? How so?? The Prescott is known to run very hot without problems...many people get scared when they see their temps in the 60s & sometimes 70s. Believe it or not, it's not uncommon & is almost considered "normal"

Hopefully you got a quality name-brand PSU, at least 400 watts with a lot of amperage on the +12v rail, & not some $20-25 cheapie

Have you ever tested your RAM? Try running memtest86 & see if you get any errors, if you do, identify with stick is bad (test one at a time if necessary) & replace it

I never used the CD version, I've only used the floppy version. You download, unzip, then double click on INSTALL.BAT, you'll be prompted to insert a floppy & the memory diagnostics will be copied & the disk will be made bootable...then you just boot off the floppy & let it do it's thing. Let it run for at least one complete test series. Some people let it run for hours, even overnite. But if the RAM is bad, the errors usually turn up right away. If your RAM has errors, write down the info. If it has a lifetime warranty, write an e-mail to the manufacturer explaining your problem & your memtest results...that's usually enough to get an RMA number for a replacement module
