I have received a notebook for my graduation and would like to use it for games as well. I have currently only tried one game, Hitman 3, to test performance and am not impressed. At lowest graphics settings and resolution, the game all but freezes up in areas with lots of movements and textures. I would like to know if this is my graphics card or maybe more ram would help or just tweaking on the computer. I am trying this game with no other programs running, just the basic system processes. Here's my setup:

Gateway MX7120 Notebook
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processer, 2.2GHz.
ATI Radeon Xpress 200m, 64mB Shared
100 GB HD
Media Center Edition

I know the basics of computers, not the insides. Appreciate any help. Email @ Ronstoppable1@gmail.com would be best. Thanks.

That is NOT a gaming notebook & nothing you do to it will turn it into one. The graphics cannot be upgraded...they're integrated into the motherboard. You might be able to allocate more toward the "shared RAM", but it won't make a significant difference. Actually, it's a trade off because it takes away from the system RAM. Gaming notebook/laptops usually start at about $1500, but really good ones sell for twice that much....

One way to improve performance overall is to get a gig of memory. I don't know if both of your SODIMMS are full or not, but 1GB or RAM is way better than 512MB

I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself.

24x cd-rom? 8x2x8 cd-rw? You made good time! Seeing as you had to come all the way from 1998! You can get a decent computer, like an AMD Sempron 3100+ with 512mb ram, 80gb hdd, and a dvd burner for 300 or so american. This is a gaming forum comeon, what games can you play on your computer? Need for speed 2? Come on youre embarassing us.

I'm hardly looking to get a new computer. If you couldn't read it, I said I just received it for graduation, hardly the time to go out and buy another expensive computer. I was just wondering if what I have can do it with a little help. Yea, this is a real '98 computer, Jack. Thanks for the actual help I got though.
