Hi,

I am having problems with playing games. Whenever I play Warcraft 3 or any other games it just hangs and the screen is frozen but the game is still running on the background and the game still responds to the key press. Then when I exit the game and do a DxDiag, I have this error:

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)

and the "AGP TEXTURE ACCELERATION" is DISABLED

but after restart the computer, It will work fine then at a certain point happen again.

Also when I play World of Warcraft the same thing happens, the screen freezes then the display on the monitor would turn gray and the screen would start to flash constantly, the light on the monitor would flash as well.

Things I have already tried:

1. update the AGP driver for my motherboard
2. tried different drivers including the latest driver for the video card
3. repair install my OS
4. tried Video Card Stability test, Memory Test, and the CPU torture test, all passed

To start with, the 7300GT isn't a good gaming card:

Could it be that the card is overheating?

Just some blind shots..

Try updating directx?

Also, do your motherboard came with onboard vga? disable it if you haven't do so.

Go into bios, make sure the agp aperture size is set to 64mb or 128mb.

"Aperture size is currently on 64Mb"

It should be 128MB, but it's not gonna fix your problem.

It always helps if you list your system specs. I would start by installing (or reinstalling) the motheboard chipset drivers. But since you didn't bother to list the make/model of your board.....

Could it be a VIA based board requiring the 4in1 Hyperion drivers?

Do you overclock your cpu/ram or video card? If yes, try revert back to default value and run those game again, see if the problem persist?

Does it happen just recently or it was already like this when you first run those games?

@jam

System Specs:

P4 1.8 Ghz
ASUS P4S533-X Motherboard
2x 512MB Geil Memory
Inno3d GeForce 7300GT
40GB Seagate HD
80GB Seagate Barracuda

so my chipset would be for SIS. I have already downloaded the latest AGP driver for the board as well as the GART driver. No success either

@sano

no overclocking done on both the proc and the video card.

the problem only happened when i changed my video card from 6600 to 7300GT

could it possibly be compatibility issues??

thanks for all the reply guys, i really appreciate it.

Currently I was able to play WoW without any hangs by lowering down the hardware acceleration a notch. Still have to test it on the other games and haven't tried it for more than 2 hours so im still observing the issue

You have a crappy motherboard (SiS boards suck), a weak CPU & a weak video card. A decent gaming machine is NOT what you have.

"i changed my video card from 6600 to 7300GT"

Your video card "upgrade" was actually a downgrade. Check the link I posted in the 1st response.
