Recently I've been unable to play games that used to give me no problems whatsoever. All other programs seem to run fine, including some older games, but newer more graphics intensive games will usually completely freeze at the intro screen or right when a game starts. Some games that won't work include Civilization 4, C&C Generals, World of Warcraft, among others. The thing is that these games used to run perfectly fine for me, and I don't recall installing any new programs that could've caused this. I ran a complete virus scan which came up clear, and I checked task manager to see if any background programs were using memory, and this also seemed fine. I can't figure out whats wrong...does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I've completely reformatted my hard drive and although the problem isn't as bad, the games still won't work. Also, I ran a RAM testing program overnight and it reported no errors, and I ran an error test on my harddrive which came up negative. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I ordered a gig of ram which I'm going to use to replace the ram I have now to see if that helps the situation, but unless the RAM I have now is broken I'm not sure why it would help since these games ran on my current ram without a problem for as long as I had my computer.

The games start but they freeze at the intro screen or a few seconds into the game. There are no error messages at all.

My first thought is 512 RAM is not enough. Did you actually upgrade to 1 gig yet? I'll concede what is odd is that the games used to play just fine. Hmm...

I found a huge difference in loading and game speed when I went from 1 gig to 2 gig RAM for BF2.

Hope it helps.

I just put in the extra gig now which brings me to 1.5 gigs of RAM and the problem is still there...im now gunna try just taking out the old ram and leaving only the new gig, that way i can tell if the old ram was the problem...if the problem is still there after that then i have a huge problem

Well I tried it with 1.5 gig and it didn't work, and I tried it with the 1 new gig and now the game will start and allow me to move around, but they freeze for about 8 to 10 seconds every 4 or 5 seconds, which still means theres a problem. What else could it be? Video card, processor? Any ideas?

I don't think so. The GeForce 7300GS is more advanced than the previous GeForce 6800 which is supported by BF2.

But.. start a new thread on the gaming forums about your problem. I really can't help you.. Lol..

Good luck, though.

=D.
