Basically last month i upgraded my comp, more ram 512 to 1gig, new mobo coz the last 1 fried. and a new video card A6600GT 128mb AGP. basically whenever i run any game for more than 15mins it slows to a crawl, the game starts off at 50fps 15mins later 1-2 fps! HELP! PLEASE!

Northwood P4 2.4Ghz
2 X 512DDR400 PC3200
leadtek A6600GT 128mb
Foxconn 661FX mobo
-and lastly perhaps the cause, a PSU that came with the comp. 300W 12V 12A

what do ya think? i want to make sure that it could be nothing else b4 getting a new Power Supply... O and just 1 otha thing SiS Sandra said my motherboard is running at 70celius under load! do mobos throttle?

Your PSU is weak & so if your board, but that doesn't explain your system slowing down. Did you do a fresh install of XP after the board change, a "repair install", or something else? And don't trust SANDRA...check the BIOS for your temps, or try a different software program.

hi thanks 4 the fast response! I am fairly sure i did a repair install but not positive... what can i now do about this? i have just last week done a complete reformat which cleans off the whole harddrive but that didn't help fix my problem. I also used speedfan to monitor temps but that is probly just as dodgy... how do i check BIOS temps- is it F something during boot?

It sure sounds like a temperature issue to me rather than software, what do you guys think?
the weird thing is i didn't think that mobos overheated!

The usual key to press to boot into BIOS is 'del'. But sometimes 'F1' or could be something else. It will tell you at the bottom of your screen when you first switch your system on. Judging by the fact that you've formatted and installed XP from fresh suggests that your problem is hardware related, unless of course you are using all the same drivers as you did before. Try updating all your drivers (video, sound and chipset) and let us know if it worked.

hi i just checked BIOS temps (celcius)
CPU: 26
System: 36
CPU fan: 2860RPM
System fan: 0RPM >>> ...thats weird if a system fan is the exhaust 1 at the back of my case then it certainly is spinning- why does the BIOS say otherwise... even though system is only at 36 i don't think it means much seen as its not underload at this point. As for drivers i installed the latest NVIDIA drivers 81.98 and i installed all the drivers that came on the motherboard- sound and chipset... everything else i kept the same drivers, should i have done otherwise?

PLease suggest anything i don't know where to go from now. maybe buy some more fans? can i disable thermal throttling in BIOS jst to rule it out?

Well it appears that your motherboard has on board graphics, and from the sound of it, you have not yet gone into the bios to manually disable it. Also, you might want to go the Foxconn's website to get the latest bios and drivers, chipset, AC97 audio, and while you're at it get nvidia's lastest too.
As for your PSU, 12amps on the +12 rail is extreamly low! And the fact that it came with your case, just means its that much more crappier.

Common sense not required

hi i downloaded all those foxconn drivers- didn't fix it... the nvidia drivers ain't causing my slowdown cause i'v tried tons of different ones. as for my power supply (as crappy as it may be) there is no reason for me to believe that it is causing my games to slow down after time. Surely if the vid card wasn't getting enough power it simply woudnt work. As for on board graphics i will try and find it in the BIOS but i'v had no luck finding anythink thermal related. By the way how could the way i installed windows effect games performance?

Please keep responding thanx heaps!
