Subject: games running slow
OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: 1 gb
Model/Manufacturer: hp pavilion dv4450 ea
Comment:
hey.. i have a very unusual problem here..
have a hp pavilion dv4450ea notebook . i bought it a 6 months ago. the games which i had installed were working perfectly fine but then the games(cricket 2007,fifa 2007,nfs underground) have started running slow at a snail pace.and its every game i tried . i have a 1gb ram and the very same game was running perfectly fine on my friends notebook which had 256mb ram and the same video card i have(intel 915).so i restored my pc to its factory settings.and formatted my hard drive considering it a hard drive problem. but after the format there has been no change in the performance of the games.
i would really appreciate if you help me on this
thank you

I find it hard to believe you were ever able to play games decently on that notebook. And I find it even harder to believe that your friend's would run better with only 256MB RAM.

Here's a clip from a review of Intel's GMA900 integrated graphics:

"People who are interested in gaming should stay very far away from the Intel solutions. While some games are actually playable, and performance is head and shoulders above that of Intel Extreme Graphics 2, performance is too abysmal for us to recommend the GMA900 for anything beyond 2D computing and extremely rudimentary 3D."

no i could ..cos the specification for the game (cricket especially) is really low..
1.0 GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent
256 MB of RAM
DirectX 9.0c compatible 3D accelerated 32 MB video card or equivalent
1200 MB free HDD space plus space for saved games and DirectX 9.0c
installation
32X Speed CD-ROM/DVD-ROM
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound car
but this doesn seem to be workin at all on my notebook.. which is really surprising .. after seeing the performance on my friends.
has it to do something with my motherboard
or i think that my fan may not be cooling down the processor..
pls help me out .. !!

IMO, formatting & reinstalling the OS was a drastic & unnecessary move...but what's done is done.

Make sure to install the latest chipset & video drivers, & disable all the HP crap software.

You better check on other applications that runs in the background (antivirus, instant messaging, etc). Anyway, you want to play FIFA2007 with Notebook.

Come on, play on the desktop instead. Notebook not meant for gaming, but if you still insist than try the above solution first.

ok.. i quit all the programs. i quit the explorer as well and ran the game(ea sports cricket 07) . I thought i'd switch to an older game . i tried out cricket 05 .Well i am gettin the same problem. The game actually doesnt lag. Doesnt run in frames as well. It is actually slower than the normal speed. I tried out the settings in the game as well. That did not make any difference as well.I have a notebook. So that doesnt leave me any choice
