Hi,
I am having a strange problem. I have removed all adware, spyware, viruses etc, and ended all my waste processes, but my games are still running at around 80% speed. These games include world of warcraft and half life 2. They were working fine about a week ago, but i havnt been able to fix the problem.
Thanks,
Jeff

How did you conclude that you're only running at "80% speed"?

Hi, thanks for the reply. 80% is just a general guess. I cam to it from looking at casting a spell in world of warcraft. It has a time bar as the spell is charging, the bar reaches about 80% at a slower rate than normal, and then jumps forward to 100%. Also, i guessed from movement speed.

Ok, it seems that a defrag of the hard drive and leaving the computer turned off for a bit did it, i also re-installed the game. Thanks anyway

Yeah, routine maintenance is important. Defraging you're swap file with diskeeper on boot-time works good too (if you set up a swap file). Usually the only thing that will slow down a PC are more programs added that might be conflicting with other apps, spyware, or possibly a driver conflict. Thinking about any changes made to he system is a good idea for troubleshooting.
