Subject: Games Run Slowly With Poor F/RatesOS: Windows XP Home SP2CPU/Ram: 1,500Model/Manufacturer: AMD Athlon 3500 64 |
Comment: Hi, I have come across a problem where i cannot play new games, i.e Hitman Blood Money, Prey, etc. The games will install but run very slowly and be very juddery and unplayable. I have a 3500 AMD, 256 Nvidia 5700 LE Gfx card, 1,500 ram, and don't understand why i'm getting this problem. Please can anyone possibly tell me what i can do to be able to play these newer games? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Nvidia 5700 LE is your bottleneck. You are running on a 3+ year old middle of the line (for it's time) card trying to run new games that demand good graphic card preformance. I Take it this card is an AGP so if you want a great card that you won't have to worry about upgrading again for another 3+ years then go out and get an Nvidia 7800 AGP. Reply: (edit)You should post your power supply spec before getting a 7800gs. If your power supply has less than 20a on 12v rails, then I suggest you go for an radeon x800gto or geforce 6800 for lower power consumption or buy a new power supply with the 7800gs. As far as best AGP card goes, the gainward bliss 7800GS+ is the best out there... It's bascially a 7900GT counterpart in PCI-E... Reply: (edit)"The games will install but run very slowly and be very juddery and unplayable." One cant expect to run modern shader hunger games at 4xAA, 8xASF, 1280x1024 with anything below a Nvidia 6600gt these days. Either lower your settings or replace the one element thats holding you back. I definitely agree with Cobra_R, and TMP-Man. Like TMP-Man said, its very importand, if and before you upgrade to know the video card's power requirements.

Reply: (edit)Try using the System Requirements Lab, and see if your PC is good enough to run the game at its full potential. "I have a 3500 AMD, 256 Nvidia 5700 LE Gfx card, 1,500 ram" Everything looks fine here except the Video card. As Mr. Noob said "Either lower your settings or replace the one element thats holding you back." Trust me tht'll rlly help ya.
