i have my current version of windows installed for about a year now, then i did the latest windows update. Now none of my games work, in the directx diagnostic the direct3d test does not work, well it does but the cube spins really fast and the x is therefore not really visible. When i start FEAR it says "unable to initialize the renderer to a valid video mode". All the other games like battlefield 2 and call of duty 2 just appear to start and then don't??? what's going on? when i try to reinstall direct x it gets half way through copying the files and then gives up.
