Games keeps crashing!

I have no idea why this keeps happening but I am trying to run the sims 2 but it keeps crashing. I have HP Pavilion AMD Athlon xp 3000+ 512 Ram I have a radeon 9550 with what I beleive to be the latest driver (downloaded from there website) I have the latest directX 9 But I am still having problems I am not looking for perfection in running th game just being able to not have it crash.. Any help?
