You could always switch to a different Anti-Virus.

norton used to piss me off with all its "wanna update now? how about now? now?" crap. it would sit there in my taskbar thinking it was so great that it could take up that space in my taskbar. finally i had enough. i got this program called nod32. never heard of it. so, i downloaded the um "good" version of it to have it forever and its great. i never have it interupting any part of my life. all i use it for is full system scans and to scan an individual file. and after that poof its out of my face and out of my life and thats it. give it a try.
