My problem is that whenever I am playing a game, such as Farcry or Doom 3, the games will run fine, and then all the sudden just quit and bring me back to windows. I have no idea what it could be, since they run fine, graphics look fine, they don't run laggy. My specs are athlon xp 3200, all in wonder 9800 pro, and 1 gb of ram. I run most of my games on low quality, never higher than medium, so I'm not really pushing my system too much. Thanks for any help.

What motherboard chipset do you have? Did you update your drivers for both the chipset of your motherboard, and your video card drivers?

k, it might be that your video card or cpu are overheating. If you say you built the system yourself, what kind of cpu gel did you use? if you used a cheap one, then it might be that it doesnt provide the necessary cooling and your cpu fan is just not doing the job. Also, it could be that your cpu fan has accumulated a layer of dust. That is very common if you dont clean it for 2 years. then, in very hot conditions, the computer starts running slower and random crashes can occur.
The last thing i can think of is that you might have bought a video card with a defect that overheats easily. yeah its ATI and all but you know, it happens. If i were you, i'd check with the store where you bought the parts for you pc.

Good Luck.
