I'm not a bigtime gamer, but I do have copies of Splinter Cell, Pain Killer, Max Payne, etc. I don't play them very often cuz I HATE using the mouse & keyboard.
I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad that came with software that can be used to program the buttons to emulate keyboard buttons. My older games (Quake3, Half Life, Unreal Tournament, DOOM...yes, I still like to play DOOM) support a gamepad, so it was never a prob...the emulation software wasn't necessary for these games. The software is for Win9x only & apparently (from what I've read) Microsoft has no intentions of providing emulation software so that this gamepad can be programmed for use with XP (although it still works in XP with the older games that I listed).
Does anyone know of any 3rd party emulation software that will allow me to use the old SideWinder gamepad with my newer games in XP?
Thanks in advance.

Well jam i remeber a post i put up here and i remeber your cocky response that really pissed me off.But hey your lucky im someone that if givin time, can forgive.
This program i have found recently is a keyboard emulator for joysticks but should also work with your gamepad.i am someone who also fummbles with keyboards so i use a joystick and mouse with first person shooter games.I have recently completed farcry with that setup and am currently playing painkiller with it.
These programs literally took me over a year to find and i was so happy when i found them,so please be very graciuos if they work for you.
Any one elese who fears quake4,half-life 2 and doom III wont support joysticks then these programs are your saviour.
This 1 is good but not as user friendly.
