I was wondering if anyone could help me with some game resolutions....?
No game has my actual native screen resolution of 1280 x 1024. It is like they disapeared. They used to pick them up.
Games like Rome Total War, which I have had for a while, will not now display in 1280 x 1024. I have to edit a file to force it...

I have an XFX 6600GT with the 84.21 drivers installed. I am reluctant to install the new drivers out as they come with loads of poo I could do without.

Like I said, RTW had 1280 x 1024 listed before with the same drivers I have now...

I have since updated to the latest forceware drives and still the same. Highest resolution available is 1280 x 960. This is a list of games it applies to

Rome total war
Battle for middle earth 1 and 2
Sims 2
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2
World of Warcraft
Oblivion
Morrowind

I have played all these games (except bfme2) before at a res of 1280 x 1024.
Only difference is they have all been uninstalled and reinstalled at a later date when I wanted to play them.

See if there's an update for your monitor driver.

Thanks for the reply heropsycho2177

I just did that now.
Windows said "cannot find a better driver than the one installed" so I presume this means there is no update.

I have not changed my monitor since I uninstalled those games and reinstalled them.

Go to your monitor's manufacturer website. See if there's a driver there.

Yes I am sure.
I know this wont mean much, but I am A+ certified and I have racked my brains to try find a solution. This is why I came here as many millions of people know more than me so I was hoping one of the people would see this...

This is what I did...

I went to www.neovouk.com/support/download.htm
I downloaded the drivers for my F-417 model.
Extracted the files.
Went to device manager and found my display.
Used the "update driver" function.
I specified the folder I extracted the .cat/.inf/.icm files.
That is where it told me that there is no better driver.

I am close to giving up...

Have you tried completely removing your video card driver via Add/Remove Programs?

You may want to check guru3d.com and look for a driver cleanup utility if that doesn't work.
