I used to play Thief on my 1999 PIII, 500 MHz and it played great. I tried installing it on this computer (friend of mine.. for his boy) and upgrading the video (GeForce 6150 LE) drivers to the latest, but it still just plays the game about 10 - 15 seconds and then freezes the computer. Is it just a crappy vid. card/cpu?? I don't know much about hardware. Anything I can do? Thx!

Is this the first Thief, Thief2 or the Thief3? I suspect its the first Thief. Please give the full spec of the computer. Especially the CPU, RAM and Power Supply Unit. This game will run well on the GF6150LE considering the game only uses Unreal Engine 1. As for the lockups, it may be cause by heat, RAM/CPU mulfunction and also by not enough power to juice the GF6150. Maybe there is some sort of malfunction going on.. guess there's no way to know. Just odd.. it's a brand new computer and does everything else quite nicely. i thought its your spec not your friend's spec...Anyway have you tried to play different game on this pc. does it also locks up? try Tribes, quake2 (for old games) and Unreal Tournament 2003, Quake3 Arena (for newer games) if it does. I can say that it was the GFx card problem. To do torture test try benchmark it using 3DMark 2005 run it twice. If it hangs after 10sec than its GFXcard problem.
