This just started happening this month. The game will almost skip,I guess is the best way to desribe it, like a cd getting stuck,the sound gets stuck and it causes my game to lag, and it happenes whether or not the game is being run off of a cd. It isn't limited to online games like counter strike, however, that's when it at it's worst, however, it does happen in single player games as well, new and old. I have all current drivers installed. I am not sure what is causing this problem, but it's driving me nuts, and I just want to know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Try using System Restore and go back like a month.

Dang EsP_, stop posting that. You're not being helpful. What are the specs of your computer? And your description of skipping isn't helping. I don't know what you mean. There are lots of things that can happen when you play high-end games. Skipping is too broad.

Agreed. Skipping. You mean like stall (low fps)? Repeated images in ie: cutseens (scratches on cd causes disc skip)? This question can only be answered by knowing that. And on what game?????? I've got a 2.8 ghz proc. 1024 mb ram and 9800 pro and I still stall in Halo.

hello I have the same problem he described and I dont know how to fix it.. its a sound related problem.. when sound plays sometimes it like hangs the computer up for a millisecond and goes back its almost like a lag spike but its definetly sound related.. ive been having that problem since i believe 1.6 but I also have that problem real bad in return to castle wolfenstein.. .. i have a 2.4 800fsb with 256 ddr ram 80gb hd and a geforce 440mx.. any help would be appreciated..
