Check your background services that are running, make sure you aren't running something that has your CPU usage through the roof. I suggest that you download Ccleaner from Piriform at ccleaner.com Run the cleaner, registry cleaner, and the startup modifer. Check and see if you have unwated programs starting when you boot. Run a virus scan.
