Hi

I have a problem with running MS Flight Sim 2004 and Worms 3d.

PC is:
Asus A7V8X-MX
XP2500
512MB 333 Ram
XP Home
Onboard Sound and Graphics (uses 64MB of system ram)
CPU temp hovers around 60 degrees C

Worms 3d loads OK but then freezes when the game starts.
MS Flight sim starts and then will freeze up after about 60 seconds.

PC is new, has no other problems.

I have disabled the PCCillin antivirus program on the profile used.

It has been suggested that the problem may be with using on board graphics...but surely this would cause a game to run slower rather than simply freeze up?

For the most part, onboard graphics suck! Get a "real" video card. Read this clip from Tom's Hardware:

"If you're planning on using your computer as a gaming station as well as a workstation, your best bet is to stay away from integrated graphics. The performance of Intel's i865G Extreme Graphics was nowhere near convincing in a gaming environment, making us wonder what exactly the self-serving "extreme" adjective described. Extremely slow, maybe?

The SIS315/Real256 was slower still. Besides, this chip suffered from driver problems with Serious Sam, even though it has been on the market for a long time. NVIDIA's nForce 2, however, may be a viable option for a game now and then, as long it is of an older vintage. However, new games are off-limits even for the nForce 2, because it's too slow."

Hey. I also have a problem with my Geforce 4 MX 420. I had the card installed INTO the computer itself by a computer specialist so I dont think that is the problem. I am not sure exactly what the problem is but everytime, at odd times, my computer will freeze. It not just while im playing games. The computer mainly freezes while im playing games, but even if Im using Flash, or MSN Messenger, the whole computer freezes and I have to restart it. I know its not anything else with the computer because when I had my geforce 2 was in there, everything worked fine. But for some reason, windows XP does not like this video card I have now (Geforce 4 MX 420). I would upgrade the Port but I dont know how to, and I dont even know the manufacturers webpage for this product. (Notice: Im only 17). I really would like to know how to fix this because when I used to use Geforce 2 it worked fine. I tried using this video card on windows ME and it works fine. I think its just hardware difficulties and thats out of my league so if you could help me that would be great. But my main consern is that I am not able to play games online for long. Maybe 5mins and it freezes and this is frusterating, especially when I want to play with Family or friends and crash in the beginning or middle of the game.
