Hi
look on www.tomshardware.com site agp pcie
for a comparison, the 6200pcie has the edge , just a few fps in it ut04 doom3 etc both low end scores but playable.
re: u r pc spec for a 6200 agp or pcie? ,& OS id look for the one that has linux drivers offered as standard ;)

I'm using AGP, there is an Inno3d 6200 AGP.
it says here http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/ that the 5700 has a faster core clock than the 6200 but pipelines and shaders....

There are some dudes at school who make drivers for linux, I hear they're pretty decent.

well thanks anyway dropkick

follow-up question can any of the two cards that I mentioned (fx5700, 6200) play DOOM3 or Half-Life2, FarCry on my machine?

Both should, but the 6200 would be better for all three.

Hi again ,
Doom3 plays ok 800x600 few effects rendered scenes drop alot of frames, farcry plays with a few effects off and 800x600 just okish , dont expect to be thrilled tho ,having had a 5600fx256 meg and now a 6600gt id save up and get somthing a bit better, i now win lan & on line ;)
A Fx5950 isnt too great a leap in cost (or 9800 ati.) but the performance is a big jump approx 40fps is a good fps to play,
look here for comparisons;

With a 2GHz Celeron, he's not gonna be able to take advantage of a 6600GT.

Hi

i was advocating the 9550 or 9800, but sure cellys have a cache issue, his mobo hopefully has x4, x8 agp.
doom3 is a pretty terrible game for most average pcs hence my last yrs upgrades were a voyage of discovery, & hindsight is wonderful thing (yeah ive owned a fx5200 :/ LOL ) just shared experiance to help ppl not fall at the first hurdle.
:)
