Hello, I had a few questions about the BFG Geforce FX 5500 256mb DDR PCI card. (not PCI Express) Can that card run WOW? What can I overclock it too, or will it be find just how it is? The specs is:
Platform: PC Type of Video Card: 2D/3D Video w/TV Support Slot Type: PCI (not PCI express) Video Chipset Brand: NVIDIA Chipset: GeForce FX Core Clock Speed: 270 MHz Installed Video Memory: 256 MB Memory Technology: DDR-SDRAM RAMDAC Speed: dual 350 MHz Vertices per Second: 72.5 Million Port Connectors: * 1 x VGA * 1 x S-Video Graphics Support: DirectX 9.0 Open GL 1.5
Is there a better PCI card than this FX 5500? If anyone can give me any advice or information I would appreciate it. Thanks.
it should be fine. i played WOW for 2 weeks, the trial version. and the graphic of WOW is simple. just like WC3. but i think your CPU speed is a bit low for that and the extra 512 mb ram would be much better, especially for online gaming.
Talon, stick to asking questions, not answering them. I've read many of your posts, both Q's & A's, & it's obvious that you have very little PC knowledge or experience.
xtremoo, the FX5500 is about as good as it gets in standard PCI cards. 128MB is all you really need, 256MB is a waste on the PCI bus, but a 256MB card may be all you can find. Be 100% sure the card uses 128-bit memory interface...do NOT get a 64-bit card (such as the 6200 piece-o-crap).
Yes! I got the FX5500 in my secondary PC and it works fine =D make sure u have more than 512 ram or you will lag in most cities.
the 1.3 will be fine as the game is not processor heavy. obviously it could be better but it will work decently. (My friend has played it with a 1.3 processor, TNT 2 graphics and 256 MB ram and even tho it lagged (ram not enough) it was playable. and now she plays it on 1.3 with 768 ram and 9250 Radeon and it performs similar to my main PC... see below
