Hey there Fellow Far Cry Afficionadoes,
I'm about a quarter of the way through the single player portion of the game, and have been noticing a lot of Far Cry performance tweaking commentary. I'm currently playing
at:video:
1152x864
no anti-aliasingadvanced video:
texture quality: medium
texture filter: trilinear
anisotropic filtering: 1
detail settings: high to very highI'm getting pretty smooth gameplay from this combo, but was wondering if there were any other setting fanatics like me who have been experimenting with other settings/resolutions and found something that runs exceptionally smooth; conversely, if there are any settings you've dumbed down and found performance improvements with mininal differance in visuals, i'd love to hear from you.
Thanks!

Heres a FarCry Tweak guide that i found pretty useful

eVGA GeForce FX 5900 SE

ahh, very cool, thx!
Anyone else who has been playing with the settings and found that "sweet spot" between performance and visuals?

As I have a 15inch LCD 1024x768 @ 75hz is my max res, I run the game at ultra detail settings no AA or AF turned on and I average 65fps, gameplay is very smooth even when in huge battles

Best damn board I have ever owned, I find MSI make very stable and fast boards, have had 5 MSI boards and not one problem with any of them

How do you make the settings. If I use the configurator (which enables you to make the most detailed settings) it just doesn't save the settings. It seems farcry uses a lot of different places to save its settings. If you make changes ingame, I noticed the game.cfg and system.cfg change in the farcry dir AND in the player profile dir. Using the configurator changes nothing except on first run. (When there no cfg files yet).
By the way, try playing the game in OpenGL mode. This can be done by editing the system.cfg files by hand. It gave me a 10-20% boost on my system. Plus it added some goodies that didn't work out in D3D, like the cryvision heat coloring and heat haze. Might be because of my vidcard these things didn't work on D3D. I have a Asus V9280/TD GF4 Ti4200 8x 128MB
