Help! maybe a challenge for you folks out there. The game is Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne.
It's during battlenet custom games (dota) that i crash randomly and get this error message. It's been very annoying as this has been happening more and more late in games, wasting all my effort. some tell me this has something to do with video codecs, i have K-lite codec pack installed, and i dont have any other problems whatsoever with my computer. and it is not my cd, ive tried different CDs, as well as reinstalls.

I havent played this specific game but would i be right in assuming you have changed or modified the .exe file ?

I have had the same problem myself. The only thing that seems to prevent this from happening for me is if I save often. It seems that if I left the game run between saves for too long, it crashes. Try saving often and see if that helps.

NO, this is due to any bugs/incomplete/leak on the map. it could be any map. you need to find out which unit or ability contains the bugs/leaks. now, one the obviouse example, units damage number per dice. if you check all the units, the number of this slot is either 1 or 2. if you change up to more than 2 like 4 or 5. the game would crash. other would cause the map crash is incorrect buff art/spell string/units model/so on. some buff art doesnt fit on some spells. i made some mistakes before, an undead building called Sacrificial Pit. i made that build that can train Crypt Fiend. as soon as the fiend comes out, the game crash. see some buildings cannot train some specific units. also, i gave an hero archmage a Frost Breath spell, as soon as he casts it, the game crash. you see. its not about your codec or .exe file. if you play other maps and its fine right? but in Dota. so therefore, some heroes/units in that map equipped incorrect spell, so spell equipped with incorrect buff art. i've seen many of this problem so many times.

another example if you give Load/Devour/Battle Station ability to a unit without Cargo Hold ability. this would make the game crash as well.

I had that problem . Problem was my RAM but it was like that to me in every game it crashes after several minutes but if it doesn't crashes to u in every game then i don't think RAM is problem
