I play Neverwinter Nights on-line via the direct connect mode to their specific IP. Every time I am in game, my laptop will freeze up at least once.
When this occurs, I hear an audible "click" internally, and then the graphic that is on screen at that time completely freezes up. It requires a hard reboot to remedy the situation. Often times, it will not freeze again once I have rebooted and rejoined the game. However, it does not make a difference if I reboot prior to my initial log-in. It will still freeze.
I make sure that there are not unnecessary processes running in the background when I go in-game. When working with Dell, I even went so far as to restore my system to the original factory settings. I did an analysis on the hard drive and RAM, w/out any errors.
The baffling/frustrating thing is that I purchases this higher end Dell for the sole purpose of gaming, and I'm having all of these issues. My "older model" Dell has no issues whatsoever....
Gotta love Dell technical support too...sure glad I shelled out some money for that waste of time...

Well the only audible component in your computer that can "click" is the HDD. In desktops a power supply can too but you dont have a desktop. Also a capacitor can "pop" but your computer would more than likely not work anymore and you would smell a metalic burning smell. I suggest backing up, nuke and reload your HDD if the problem pursists you need a new HDD.
The gamer guy

Would a HDD problem on manifest itself during an on-line game?
And, yes, I agree with your opinion of Dell. Never again...regardles of any "deals" they might be offering. Junk.

I had a dell desktop and it did that same thing right out of the box, it was the hdd, i had them send me a new one
