I got a bunch of floppy disks from a friend. they have dos games in it and stuff. so I put a disk in my floppy drive, and when click on the A drive in MY COMPUTER, it says this disk is not yet formatted. ??? how do I check what's on the disks?

Sounds like either your floppy is bad, or the disks are. Judging from the sound of how old these disks are, my money is on the disks being bad.

get a DOS boot disk (www.bootdisk.com)

Copy the files off the floppies into directories on your hard disk, if your hard disk is not NTFS formatted.

Then if you need them back on floppies, reformat them under XP and recopy the files.
