So I got GTA IV for Christmas and I didn't really notice yesterday when I played it for the first time, but today all the shadows seem to be flickering everywhere.
Any suggestions? System specs are as follows:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2.8GHz)
RAM: OCZ Vista Platinum, PC2-6400, 5-4-4-15
Graphics card: Powercolor HD 4870 512MB GDDR5I've tried adjusting the graphics settings in game except for screen resolutions which I want to keep at 1440x900. In-game benchmark test returns average frame rate of about 30fps, but that's not all that noticeable. It's the shadows which are bothering me.
I think it's my processor, but a new one isn't an option

"I think it's my processor"
Why would you think that? It's NOT the processor. In fact, if you do some googling, you'll find it's a common problem with GTA & ATI cards. Which display driver are you running? Try Catalyst version 8.12

Yeah, I noticed that shortly after posting. Thought it might be the processor because it's pretty much the bottleneck of my system.
Solved now anyway. Installed new updated drivers. Thanks for the reply.
