I'm having a bit of a problem with the foreground resolution in Final Fantasy XI. I have some annoying vertical lines that recently appeared in my menus and text boxes. The background resolution (the characters and world itself) are all perfectly fine and normal.

I'm using an ATI 9600 All-in-Wonder video card, which was able to run all of the resolutions before without a problem. This is not the only place I've noticed that I'm having foreground resolution problems. I recently decided to load up a game of Baldur's Gate 2, and had a black screen over the rest of the game. Wherever I moved my mouse, a square appeard through the black, and I could see the background. But this black foreground was looming over everything. I tried updating the driver, no luck. I tried tweaking all of the D3D and OpenGL settings one by one...mild success in Baldur's Gate, 0 success for Final Fantasy. I removed the black screen in Baldur's gate, but the game will not run in Full screen mode without annoying vertical lines appearing, almost the exact same as the ones in Final Fantasy. I must admit, I'm a moron when it comes to video settings. I have no clue what anti-aliasing and blah blah are, and so I have no clue if tweaking them a certain way would even be the right way to go. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Normal is a setting on a washing machine.
