Just finished F.E.A.R. Took me about two weeks, but I only get to actually play for about an hour a night. I am shocked to say the least. I never knew that games would get to this point. Had my 7800GT running all the highest settings and the graphics were just ridiculous. I've never seen anything like it before.

It was like playing a movie. Absolutely amazing! Scared the hell out of me a few times.

Doesn't come close to the addiction level that Starcraft still holds on me, though!

Helluva game!

Oops..I almost forgot the reason I posted. What's next? Any suggestions on where I head from here? Obviously the next game I play may turn out to be a let down coming fresh off of F.E.A.R. unless it really breaks some barrier.

Story games usually dont make you addict to it once you finished the story because everything is set, not like strategy games.

No real point to this post, so don't bother looking for one...Just conversing. :-)

I downloaded the F.E.A.R demo recently and didn't really care for it...I thought I would be killing scary monsters and ghosts, but it looked like the ghosts only walked around and tried to scare you, and all I ever got to kill was boring ole' soldiers with guns...It didn't even look like F.E.A.R had any interesting or creative weapons, which is one of the funnest things about shooters.

I'm not a regular gamer, and really all the modern games I've played have been shooters (partly because they're the ones that are hyped up and I like to see what everybody is talking about). HL2 was OK, I thought the most entertaining was Halo, but even that got repetitive. I'm thinking maybe strategy is my thing so I'm giving Sid Meier's Pirates a try since I remember playing the old one on my Radio Shack Tandy 1000 (No hd, monochrome screen, and 256Kb of RAM) and really loved it...So far I'm digging it.

If you want addiction, definetly go for World of Warcraft. You will never want to leave it!

WOW was boring to me. My game is collecting dust while I enjoy COD 2, BF2, F.E.A.R., SH2, BFV, etc. HL2 was okay. To each his own huh? I should give the Starcraft a try. Any opinions on Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion?

Starcraft is, in my opinion, the greatest PC game ever made. F.E.A.R. has seated itself a very close second. I may be inclined to play through the single-player game again, simply because it scared the holy hell out of me, but also because the AI, the realism, was all just so amazing. If you played the demo and didn't give it a second thought, then you're right, maybe it's not for you. It was the demo that forced me to my local game store to buy it.

I've been thinking ES: Oblivion, but I'm a new dad and I really don't have the time to put into a game like that. MMORPG's fall into that category for me as well. I'd love to sit down with Guild Wars, WOW, or the upcoming LOTR:Online, but it's just not in the cards. I need instant action. I guess I'll go buy NASCAR 2005, BF2 or pull out my old Brood Wars disc and rekindle the fire. I have been dabbling in America's Army, which I have loved since it's release way back in the day. It is still rockin'! Maybe I'll devote my gaming time (which is positioned between 10pm-11pm when my son goes to bed and before I pass out at my desk) to AA:SF.

F.E.A.R. is great.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Doom3. I've played The Fear demo and the graphics were awesome but Doom3 seemed much more intense.

Does Fear get that much better and has anyone played both for comparison?

How about also comparing it to Quake 4. Which is more intense? I have only played F.E.A.R. of these three.

I have played Doom 3 and I truly think that F.E.A.R. crushed it in just about every category, except for the dark corridor, scary monster routine. The realism of F.E.A.R. far surpasses Doom 3 and the AI was like nothing I've ever seen. I haven't played Quake 4, but I've never really been much of a Quake guy to begin with. I pulled out all my old PC Gamers last night to see what I should be expecting in the near future and this is what I found (note: mostly FPS, but I'm willing to look elsewhere):

Sin: Episodes
Prey
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Timeshift - - played demo and wasn't impressed at all!
Half-Life 2: Aftermath - -but I don't even own Half-Life 2
Galactic Civilizations
X3
Hitman: Blood Money

I like sports games, but there really aren't that many out there for the PC. EA has pretty much turned a blind-eye since 2005 (i.e. no baseball games, Madden sucked, etc.). I've read some good things about Nascar SimRacing, but I've also read where Nascar 2003 still blows it away.

I NEED MY FIX MAN! I'VE BEEN SUBJECTING MYSELF TO STARCRAFT FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS, IT'S GREAT BUT THE SERVERS ARE FLIPPIN' DEAD NOW AND MOST OF THE GAMES ARE "USE MAP SETTINGS" LAME ASS GAMES! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

my suggestion if u love starcraft is to give Dawn of War a try. its a kickass RTS game. and if ur more of a FPS gamer then id suggest call of duty 2. and if ur more of a TPS gamer id suggest the max payne series or the serious sam games.

If you;re looking for SC servers, the game is still very much alive in some countries like Korea. Try a different portal. Apparently in South Korea their high schools have Starcraft teams!! I mean, if I got school credit from playing Starcraft I'd be a friggin' keener!

Korea's weird for computer games, though. They're so big there, that they have rehab clinics tailored specifically for PC game addicts. Also, some guy played Starcraft for 79 hours straight (!!) and died of massive heart failure.

79 hours straight?? How is this possible?? I mean, SC is a good game, but how long in one sitting can you watch newbs get owned by Battlecruiser rushes, or watching nobody ever build Ultralisks, ever?

Skyfear...thats interesting stuff since I live in China most of the year. Maybe I can connect to a server in Korea.

If you're FPS online, BF2 ROCKS!!
I've been playing COD2 it also rocks but I cannot play it online right now.

No. Isn't that a driving game. I'm not too interested in those types of games. But I heard it was a good game by many.
