Well I can run the game and get great frame rates on high and some mixed with medium but I guess im going to need that ram cause it sometimes will stutter/pause when the access light on my comp turns red espically while walling its not slow down or anything its just a 1 to 2 second pause but it doesnt do that on medium settings all the way so is that a memory issue cause ive only got a stick of generic pc3200 512 ram? I can handle the game only playing with High and some mixed settings and would rather see it that way instead of the medium on all settings(high on world detail and model with some of the spark offects on high is what I want)

If a game constantly has to access the HDD thats much slower than RAM then you do get these kind of pauses... Try playing UT2K4 and having to wait for it to load things every 30secs lol. I would say it is a RAM issue. Do you have an PATA or SATA HDD?

It would have to be the ram since peeps are saying the game is going to need almost 2 gigs to run right? and im running alot of high and medium settings with only 512 . When I run the game on all medium settings the pause doesnt really ever occur and I dunno to much about my HD its a 7200 rpm 80 gig Digital Western HD......(my FPS is awesome though it goes from like 50-120 and drops when the HD light comes on though, guess from the access and pause).

I run at with most image qualitiy options up on full or almost full, and it runs fine. If I crank everything full blast, I see results similar to yours. I only (lol) have a gig of memory, and performance monitoring indicates it's a lack of memory. But keep that in mind that if you can live with most graphics options up but not all, 1 gig will suffice.
Specs:
Athlon 64 3000 @ 2GHz
1gig CAS2 PC3500 Mushkin (2x512M)
EVGA Nvidia 6600GT PCI-e 128M
Asus A8N-E Nforce4 Ultra
Hitachi 250GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive"If that [soiled bed] sheet is a [holy] manifestation, then I'm working on a miracle in my Jockey's!"

Even at some of the medium settings mixed with high I love the way this game looks words can't describe it but you know how it is. You all ways want your PC to run it perfect at the highest possible settings (maxed out) but it seems like you'll always be behind with the upgrading.......
I think in a year or two i'll most likely upgrade to PCI-E like get the 7800 GTX9(x2) when it gets almost dirt cheap ROFLCAKES and a somewhat decent processor(AMD 64 4000).... I'd do it now but, id have to change out my mobo(asus K8V) and proccesor(AMD 64 3200+ 2.2) and my videocard BFG 6800 GT OC AGP.. and just settle for a 6800 SlI setup or 6600 but, im also in the proccess of saving for the new consoles and getting the Corsair ram ive been wanting which will carry over when I go PCI e thank the lord!(oh it sucks being a hardcore gamer) but stuff like F.E.A.R and some of the awesome RTS games coming out will keep me upgrading and somewhat interested in the pc.

Okay, here's the problem with the "demo" of F.E.A.R: It's a demo! Te full version hasn't been released yet, so don't start talkin about buying 2gb of ram, which is completely and uterly useless. My 1gb of ram, 3ghz cpu and 6800 Ultra also gets the stutters when i'm turning corners or going through checkpoints in the game. So don't worry, if you're getting some stutters now you won't be once the game comes out. That is if monolith fixes it, or else the game will bomb, cause stutters in a horror game pretty much take you out of the moment. Hope that helps.
