The problem I'm having is that after installing the game (which I've done about 8 times), the first time I try to launch it my computer locks. The second time it actually runs, optimizes my settings, but then I get to the menu and have no sound. This is only the beginning of the problem.

I don't bother setting the controls anymore, because I can't actually play the game. The intro movie loads (with no sound), and whether or not I skip it doesn't matter. The first cinema with in-game graphics loads for about two seconds (no sound), then jumps to the scene where a silhouetted man is peering down at me (no sound). Actually, it's not even supposed to be a silhouetted man, but... it is. After skipping/watching that, the actual game appears to load up, where I'm in a car being driven down an alleyway (no sound). A mission objective menu pops up, and after clicking out of it, I'm launched out of the car into the nearby dumpster, after which I spontaneously turn around and shoot at the wall. That's as far as I can get. I can manually move around about a little, but I'm utterly stuck behind that car. My only other option is to go the opposite direction, which leads to me "falling off" the map and dying. Absolutely nothing else works. Even if I could get past the car I wouldn't really want to since playing games without sound is no fun.

My install CDs are fine, as the problem occurs after using 3 other friends' sets as well.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

so if all your friends had the same problem, then it could be the cd. then you might consider replace it. 1st you do is to upgrade the game. if it doesnt work, reinstall it. after that, upgrade the game. what sound card du have?

LOL! without sound you need to turn on the substitles. otherwise you dont know whats going on. guard has spotted you and you dont know. LOL!

Sure would be nice if people actually read the post before replying. He said that he used his install CDs and he also installed from CDs from several of his friends and he gets the problem every time. He didn't say that any of them are having the problem.
