Far Cry neds more than a better video card, it needs an overall beefy PC. My P4 2.8 with 1.5GB RAM and a GeForce FX 5700 ULTRA 128MB video card can barely handle Far Cry.

I can play farcry well on my comp on low graphics of course and i hav watched my freind play it on low settings with a GF4 MX440 8* agp and it ran almost as good as mine. It must be that ur video card is pci, u should get a agp card, raedon 9600pro is a good midranged card..

I would recommend a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb as they are a great price and I average 80fps at 1024x768 with max detail on Far Cry and it looks awesome
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb are going for $210 now
Don't get a Geforce FX as I found Far Cry a bit slower with them, I had a Geforce FX 5900 128mb overclocked higher than a Geforce FX 5950 on the same setup and I averaged 50fps, Radeon 9800 Pro rules =)

Far Cry runs great for me, 1024x768 medium detail, 30-70 FPS outside and 80-150 FPS inside.
Definitely PCI is your problem, don't touch it with a tramp's arm. AGP all the way.

hell no dude.. i got a 5200 agp and i wanna play far cry and UT2K4 and all the latest games.. what u guys think ? will 5700 agp 128mb do the trick or do i have to go for a 5900 agp 128mb ? i dont want a 256mb since theyre like twice the price.. heres my specs:

Hey Guys,
My PC Runs UT2K4 no worries on the "Holy s---" settings of the game and Far Cry runs like a charm on 1027x768 medium settings...which I’ve finished too.... Bloody Awesome Game!!

hmm.. how do u explain mine is having problems with it ? do u guys think if ill get a 5700 itll be good enough for ut2k4 and far cry and games like those ? for the next year or so ? and.... wtf is that 5800 i saw on tomshardware and pricewatch ?!? i thought theres only 5700 and 5900 and 5950 ???
i cant find a 5800 on newegg anyways.. very strange..

Well if that can barely handle Far Cry, you have either been ripped off and sold a pentium 2 disguised as a p4 2.8 :\ or you cant build PC's
My work PC has a Geforce 4 and a 1.8Ghz and FarCry runs so smooth its perfect! even on God Mode I can fight many enemies blsting rockets and it lags very very little. I think you guys under estimate FarCry and how low a spec PC you can use.
Also my home PC which is 2.4 Athlon XP, GeForce FX 5200 and 512mb RAM wont run FarCry well at all and when i updated drivers, the levels wont even load!
That also shows that Nvidia suck and ATI rule the gaming scene! ATI never have problems!
