I set up 2 monitors using my nvidia geforce 7800 gtx. This was my plan; 1 monitor for video games, 1 for movies (.avi, .mpg, ect formats) But when I go fullscreen with a game like "Counter-strike: Source" The video goes purple, and the only way to fix this is rebooting "XFIRE" and then it goes away, even if I dont have xfire open at all it still goes purple and to fix that i need to start up xfire :(

Cliffnotes: Purple tint on video using 2 monitors, I need to get rid of that so I can fullscreen game on one of them and watch movies with the other.

Help!

I'm no pro either but wouldn't running both at the same time cause hardware conflicts with both sound and video?

No the sounds fine, qualitys fine, just a purple tint :/

Im pretty sure xfire is conflicting with this, but I shut it off then booted up a game on one monitor and a movie on another. Still a purple tint, the only way to remove it is by booting up xfire :/ its making no sense :(

Have u tried uninstalling xfire? It's just a gaming stat program right? It seem to me that if it solves the problem it may be the problem. Good luck!

Try drivers, make sure your video settings and monitor settings are ok. Why you want to watch a movie whilst playing CS is beyond me? Is that because you're always dead?

Never buy from Savastore or Watford Electronics!!!

Im no expert either but i am under the impression that both the game and video may be using the same overlay which of course would cause conflicts. Does it just go completely purple or can you still see the video playing but just with a purple tinge over everything?

BTW how are you getting sound for both the movie and game? or are you just turning the sound on the game off and using the speaker for the movie, or even dual sound cards?

AZZHOLE :: I can see the point of doing both, for instance my GF may be watching a movie (of which i have a crap load ) whil im playing warcraft for example.

Have you tried reversing the monitors? e.g. If your problem arises when the movie's on monitor A and CS is on monitor B, try switching them around. It may be a short near one of your outputs, and somewhere the signal's getting a little confused. If the same problem happens no matter which monitor you use, then there's nothing wrong w/ your ports or monitor.

voltage is right when he suggests uninstalling Xfire. If that doesn't do anything, you could try flashing the BIOS with the latest version from your manufacturer. If you don't know what you're doing though, you'll want to find a windows flash program, because if you screw up a BIOS flash your card will be an expensive paperweight unless you can restore it.

Seems to me you should just uninstall Xfire. I know it's cool to record all your game playing time and join servers on the fly, but it sure isn't necessary.

Joshn :: If it was a broken pin, the colour would always be wrong.
