I have been trying to keep a game only on my ext. HD so i can play it on multiple computers. If i was to put an OS on this ext. HD would i be able to run my game or other programs without having to also install them on the computer that i'm using the ext. HD on?

Nate

You do realize that app installation is more than copying files, right? Registry is edited,e tc.

Keeping an OS on on the ext drive doesn't solve the problem that they are two different computers with different hardware, each needing different drivers.

Not to mention how poorly ext hard drives perform.

This = bad idea.

oks..not to spill the beans but on most games.. i know will work like this (UT,GTA3,GTA vice city,Quake 2&4,halo) now those are some of the games i konw you an just copy the folders ... NOTE you must own the games and must be copyed in the intetions for use on YOUR computers.... but yes you can do this .. most of the games ive noticed will write stuff to the regirty when you click the exe.. some dont evean use it to run the game...now if you were to save all yoru gamas is in install them on a usb hdd ..using comptuer a then walk over and try and play the games off of the usb hdd on computer b... it SHOULD work.. speaking you have your drect X and all the right drivers and stuff.. ive done it .. im not shur if it works on alll games... but some i know you can. luck on it... and rember... DONT STEAL...
