Specs: Windows 7
I've been reading lately on some the BF2 clan sites that BF2 is shutting down on xbox consoles and have plans to shut off the servers for BF2 pc this summer to make space for BF4. Anyone know if this is true?

Read this: http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates

You'll see that EA have already ended support for BF2 (Modern Combat) on XBox.

The official EA forum is the place to go for accurate information re EA game titles:

phil22 thanks for the response. I did peruse through EA's site, but they were not specific what games were set for permanent shutdown. I did see EA is still selling the entire BF2 series for PC on the origin site.

Here's a post from one of the clan forums that just shut down their BF2 server:

"After the dwindling numbers in the BF2 server and ddos attacks on the bf2 server that is effecting the other servers we have . We have come to a time where we are going to move on. We have canceled the box that all our servers are on. We have decided that we are going to start from scratch. We are going to start with 1 BF4 server and grow from there. We would like to thank all the admin and players and guest that have helped in the past with the BF2 and BF3 servers. For those that chose move to BF4 we look forward to providing you even with better service and attention you deserve. But for those that don't want to move on to the BF4 server you are more than welcome to stay as part of the family on the forums.. "

"There is no loss for us getting rid of the bf2 server. . EA took bf2 offline on console and this summer they are taking offline on PC. We are just getting ahead of the game. We have plans that is going to make this place explode wide open. Bf2 was fun while it lasted but bf2 is nothing but a bunch of whiny adults that act like kids simple as that."

Looks like Origin is going to takeover once gamespy closes their doors. Here's an article that outlines what games will be shutdown and one's that will survive like BF2:
