I finally got Deux Ex 2, but everytime I run it, my montior tells me its out of scan range. The only mode it cannot run in is 800x600. Is there some way to get the game to run in a higher or lower resolution? Or what avout windowed mode?

I had the same problem once upon a time. Some games I tried to play, the screen would go black and say "out of range". Turned out my PC didn't know what resolutions my Moniter could run at so a simple .inf install did the trick. If your Moniter is showing as a "plug and play" or "default". Go to the manufacturers website and get the "drivers" for your Moniter.

jam, i'm sur my computer passed on all minimum requirements.
My computer:
Pentium 4 2ghz
512 ram
> 40 GB free of 74.4 GB
DirectX 9.0 100% sound card
GeForce FX 5500 agp 256 mb OC'd
32x and 24x CDrom read speeds
and has the required pixel shader stuff

I tried the driver stuff, out. It didn't work. now the computer doesn't even know what versio nthe drivers are, or driver date.
somehow the INF file ended up being installed automaticly into my Mozilla Firefox folder, which I'm sure that's not even the right place.
Any other suggestions?

Emmm..this game will choke running on your rig. Even my previous 6600GT cant coop with this game, this game have just a bad optimization for PC from XBOX port. Damn console....Anyway.
Why try to increase the resolution of more than 800x600??? This game will munch your FX5500 like a cookie, i had this game when i was still using P42.8 and FX5600 and this game suck with resolution over 800x600. I still recommend this game to be played no higher than 800x600 on your rig. But if you still insist of increasing the resolution...
Try this solution for a size. First of all patch this game, secondly get the nvidia coolbits hack for your nvidia card to unlock some of its "extra" features in the nvidia display panel. On the nvidia display panel, in the monitor refresh rate tab, force the monitor refresh rate for resolution that your desire (ex. 1024x768) to the lowest refresh rate starting from 60Hz. Play the game and increase its resolution. If you don't mind the game choking...
