Really interesting read about direct X 10 in a real world Preformance. I think what is really interesting is the this little quote

"Many of the features currently implemented in DirectX 10 could also be done using DirectX 9. Additionally, those features that are truly DX10 only either don't add much beyond what we would get otherwise, or require quite a bit of processing power to handle. Thus, we either get something that was already possible or something that requires expensive hardware."

Some of the DX10 feature does available in DX9c. Displacement mapping claim to be in DX10 already been done in FEAR, SplinterCell3 and Doom3 mod.

There were no "real" DX10 games release just yet. What i wanted to see here is that the claim by Microsoft saying that DirectX10 improves performance. That's not what i see with both Call of Juarez and Company of Heroes. Lets see how DX10 hardware performs and its graphical improvements under games like UT3, Alan Wake and Crysis.

Meh, it's the next rehash of the same discussion we have whenever a new version of DirectX comes out. It'll take a few years for hardware vendors and game developers to exploit whatever advantages the new version gives you. Until then, don't waste your money. Yada, yada, yada.

I think MS is trying to sales pitch Vista more then anything else especially when they say that they would have to rebuild XP's whole OS kernal to support DirectX 10 when in reality there isn't a big diff overall between DirectX 9c and DirectX 10.

Quite right razor,
basically dx10 is rubbish for value for money, just look at the cost of graphics cards vs playabilty.
xbox360 is still a better deal than a 8800gtx here in UK.
