My friend built a computer a while ago, built for gaming using an ASUS dual xeon motherboard, 2.8GHz per processor. How does this compare to the highest end 64-bit athlon???

My Rig:
1040Mhz Pentium 3 OC'd at 1.2Ghz
Aopen MX3WPRO-E mobo
Intel 810 chipset
Onboard Graphics Not sure how many MB
128mb RAM
120GB Maxtor Hard Drive

My Old Rig:
AMD K6 400Mhz

That dual Xeon contraption is a server board, not a gaming system. I assume it's this one that was reviewed by Tom's Hardware? I'd say he wasted his money

For gaming, it's a waste. Xeon's are good for network servers running mail, database, or other enterprise apps, but they won't do crap for you in games. Not to mention the fact that most games can't take advantage of multiple CPU's.

He wasted his money BIGTIME! A single Athlon 64 would beat it in games.
