I heard from a member of staff in Game Station, when I asked if he sold Counter Strike, That you could download Counter Strike for free on the Steam website. I have tried the website for steam and found nothing but paying for it. I have also tried Google but again nothing but Counter Strike 1.6 the mod for Half Life. Is there any truth in what I was told? (Correct me if i'm wrong) If you download the Full version of Steam, it comes with most of the Half Life games including Counter Strike. That doesn't mean you can play it though, it means it's on your computer, waiting and willing to play untill you buy yourself a serial key to unlock the games.

If you download Steam it doesn't come with Counter-Strike or any game for that matter. You can get Counter-Strike in store shelves or you can buy it and download it off of Steam.

CS used to be a free. Actually, I'll bet you could get a free version of of Fileplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com), but it'll be older. CounterStrike Source, that's not free.
