When i play doom 3 @ ultra quality i dont see any difference between high quality, and the same goes for performane.
I took 2 identical screenshots, one @ Ultra and one @ High.. but cant discover any difference:

There is a difference..Look at the womans face, on the high quality u had hardly n e shaders and lighting, on the Ultra high setting, u can see much more light effects and shaders and better bump mapping effects

I just got doom i'm not too far in, whos the chick, does she appear later in the game, or is it a mod?

as for Ultra Quality, better know as "placebo effect Quality" or perhaps its coded for speical textures that only 512mb of vid ram can handle...mmm, research time!

Comper - can i ask you what your system specs are? And at what resolution you were playing at?

I want to play in ultra mode, but use a higher resolution...what hardware would I need for this?

Dude, you haven't seen the chick? I believe she's in one of the alpha levels, don't know for sure. She's the chick who turns into a lost soul, in one of the many cinematics of the game.

The chick appears in the Enpro Plant level, you can see her trough a window sitting crying at her desk, when you go into the room there will be a cinematic, seeing her head explode and a lost soul will come out.
