Doom 3, what is the story now, come on, i have a radeon 9200 se 128mb, 512 ddr, 2600 amd athlon xp, and everytime i play the game it makes my computer shut itself down completely, it turns off! i downloaded the latest drivers , catalyst one's, the doom ATi driver (4.9 beta) and the doom patch and everything, but it just keeps on happening, i've tried tweaking the graphics also, ya know, the AF and AA and all that, all different combinations, but the pc stil just shuts down, all other games work like UT2004 , breed, and all that, so does anyone have a clue whats goin on??

first of all the 9200se isnt really for games, should play doom 3 on the lowest possible settings though, try some different drivers, also download memtest86 and prime95 run them and come back with the results

You should uninstall and reinstall doom but do not apply the beta patch. The patch that is now out IS NOT SUPPORTED BY ID SOFTWARE.

huh?

When your computer shuts down automatically usually this happens bcause of your Mobo or incompatibilities between each hardware. Try to do 'Try&Error' on your pc by switching different combination of hardware (SoundCard&GraphCard). Also check the interrupt address and make sure your GraphCard didnt share its addr with other hardwares.

right, i played it on lowest graphical settings, plays for longer, but still does the same thing, i'm beginning to think it may be over heating my graphics card , is there any way to cool down the radeon 9200se? cuz i felt it as soon as it turned off and it was very hot, though with other games like Ut2k4,it stays at a good temp.

0. Are you overclocking your CPU ?
1. What is the spec of your PSU ?
2. What are you idle and load temps ?

I doubt it's a prob with the card...probably not a software issue either. Could be overheating or a weak PSU
