Doom 3 is choppy and not near as smooth as quake 3. I'm running a 2.0 with 512mb and ati 9600xt 256mb. What's an easy fix. Not a computer guru. How about my settings 800x600? they are set higher. Please be specific if you can help. Thank you.

lolz..Doom 3 is very hardware dependant. You need a good video card as well as good cpu and high amount of ram. any crappy computer can run quake 3 smoothly

I understand that Q3 isn't anything like doom3. I just want some help with the settings or whatever I can do to make it more enjoyable. I'm running a good computer that should be able to run this just fine. Any gurus out there, doesn't look like it yet!

turning down the resolution will help most, 800x600 @ high quality should run fine (it worked resonably smoothly on my geforce3)

I understand where you're coming from.

Having gotten used to ID's last release, Quake 3, I really missed the 'smooth feel', or the fluidity of Quake 3's performance on my machine in comparison to Quake 3.

I had trouble getting completly smooth operation on my 3.4 ghz machine with 1gb of RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro, but i've heard people with much lower specs running the game to their satisfaction.

I'm not overly picky myself, but if the game seems to chug, stutter or struggle with the graphics, it tends to take my mind of the game and on to performance, tweaking, hardware, etc.

Ooops, on that first paragraph I meant to say I missed the fluidity of Quake 3 in comparison to "DOOM 3."
