OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: p4 2.7ghz, 1024ram

I downloaded directx 9.0c for halflife 2 but I dont know the location of where to extract it to. I cant seem to find it on the halflife cd. and I cant get it from microsoft because my cd doesnt match. so I got it off downloads.com and downloaded it but now I dont know where to extract it to to make halflife work.

On the cd should be a setup.exe file or something aslong those lines, and as far as downloading it, it only downloads 1 files which is the setup files. .exe is a setup file and for the most part you'll never have to extract it yourself, just double click the icon and setup should initialize. Direct X will root itself throughout the windows folder since it contains many system files.

Its probably just a self extracting Zip file, extract it to a temp folder then run the setup file from there
