DirectDraw Error

January 8, 2005 at 21:05:52
Specs: winXP at the moment, P4

I was trying to run ZSNES, and SNES emulator, on my computer. When I ran the software, and error came up in a popup box that said:

DirectDraw Error
IDirectDraw7::SetDisplayMode failed.
Make sure your video card supports this mode.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop with a P4 processor and a GeForce FX go5200 video card running windows XP. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure, dude. I have Zsnes and it rocks, the best snes emulator there is. Uh, view the readme for zsnes and see what version of DirectX it needs or supports. Also, make sure all the files relating to the emulator program are there. What version do you have? Maybe you should download the latest version of Zsnes(1.40 for Win32). What version of DirectX do you have? Maybe you should do a diagnostic on DirectDraw by running dxdiag(Start>Run>type"dxdiag"), then make sure DirectDraw is enabled, then test is by clicking "Test DirectDraw". If the black and white test graphics are ****ed up, download the latest version of DirectX, then test it again. If its still screwed up, then contact someone who knows alot about DirectX(I don't know enough).
That's about all I know to do to fix your problem, so...if is still doesn't work...well, there's something else wrong with your PC, maybe the video card. If you have an ATI card, replace it for an nVidia FX, there way better for supporting stuff like DirectDraw and stuff; and they're SUPER stable compared to ATI's junk. When you fix it, make sure you play Super Metroid and patch it with the Super Justin Bailey download, get it at:

Sweetness.
