What is the difference between a X800XL and X850XT? The prices are about the same at around £200-210 but some site is offering the X800XL £20 cheaper in this weekly offer thing. Both cards are AGP. The PCI-E versions are a bit cheaper but I only got my current motherboard about a year ago (P4C800-E Deluxe). I didn't think that AGP was going to be phased out so quick.

X850XT is made by Asus
X800XL is made by HIS

I'm guessing the manufacturer of the card doesn't change much in the way of quality/performance?

OK, thanks. I might just go for the X800XL since it's gonna be cheaper. I read somewhere that the HIS version also is overcloaked out the box.

Could I ask another question intead of making another thread?

I'm also thinking of upgrading my RAM to 2GB. I use a lot of graphical programs such as 3dsmax and PS/Corel Draw that can use a lot of RAM when dealing with large images, models etc. They have some Geil RAM that is also on offer. Buying 4x512MB sticks will be cheaper than 2x1024MB sticks.

Which combination would be best other than the fact that the 1GB sticks will only use 2 slots? The 512MB sticks have lower latecy (CAS 2.5) so will that make a difference?

Regarding the 4x512 chips vs. the 2x1024 chips... I would say the 2x1024 chips. The only way you're really going to know how it performs is by installing it on your system. RAM behaves differently on every system. I have seen 256Mb of more compatible RAM work better than 1024Mb of less compatible RAM. Get the 2x1024 chips, run some tests, if you see a significant difference, just keep it.
