I'm new to the whole technical aspects of troubleshooting. I'm trying to troubleshoot a Nvidia 8800GTS and I had a few simple questions. How do I check my CPU and GPU temps? How do I run a Load test? And where do I get a diagnostic tool that would help me troubleshoot? And finally, would that be all I needed to troubleshoot a 8800GTS that randomly freezes?

Post the specs of your power supply...brand name, wattage & amperage ratings on the +3.3v, +5v & +12v rails.

Antec 430 watt
+5V = .3A-20A
3.3V = .5A-20A
12V1 = 17amp
12V2 = 17amp
5vsb = 2.5amp

you helped me before on my other post, and you mentioned it might be my power supply and that I should troubleshoot it in order to make sure. I was out of town for a week, so I figured I'd write a new post asking how to troubleshoot it. Thanks! :)

If the card is randomly freezing, there are possibly two scenarios -- either the issue is software or hardware related.

If we had more informative symptoms to go with: we might be able to better advise you.

How old/new is the card?

Does it freeze during games or during specific applications?

How long ago did the problem start?

Are your drivers up to date?

Are you overclocking the card?

Is the card overheating?

Yeah I posted about those, but it's farther down the list and no one is responding to it, so I wrote this one about diagnostic tools....all your questions can be answered here.

look for stress testers and stuff like that on downloads.com
finding the temps i think that will be in the nvidia drivers.
there is a graphics bench test thing call 3dmarks i think. you can download a demo for free but if you can get hold of the full version you can set it to loop. its a good stress test. problem with temp monitor through the drivers is if the computer falls over you wont know its temp. so a digital thermometers a good buy.

all text needs typos. There there for the reader to find,to distract them from the total lack of content.
google it! wasnt the answer to the question i asked so dont be dense and give me that repl
