Hi i am not very computer literate but I have had diablo lod on my pc for a long time and never had a problem until now. Every time i try to load it i get an error message that reads

game.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows you will need to restart the program.

then i get a cd rom drive error message that reads

Diablo 2 failed to run please make sure expansion disk is in drive and click retry.

Has anyone ever seen this before and know what to do.

and yes the cd is in :)

thanks for ur help.

Looks like either the disc is scratched/damaged or the CD rom driver cannot any disc. Does your CD ROM drive read other CD's? What about try your d2 disc in another computer with good CD rom drive?

The disk is brand new, i have tried it in another computer and it works. My computer will read other cds as well, music and games. Sometimes if I restart my computer and then try diablo again it will work.
Very wierd stuff.

I thought it was my cd rom drive going out but it works for other disk so I have no idea.

Thanks again for your help

Sounds like a bug that is affecting the program... make sure to scan your PC for viruses and spyware and malware and that sort of stuff. worst case senario is that you are infected and mave have to reformat... Well thats all i can think of so if anyone has a better idea please have a go. L8rs
