I know that certain brands of DDR Ram work better than others on DFI boards, and so which is the best brand and type of ram to choose for this board is what i need to know

C'mon man, it's not that hard now is it?

Anyhow, go here and click on "Recommanded Memory for overclocking" in blue bold print under the Relative Link titled segment @ the top left area of that page.

DFI needs a spell checker................LOL

Looking at their RAM list, it would appear that they have the Brand & the Memory chip description reversed?

Hey Talon,

I've been meaning to ask you about your specs.

"P4 D - 2.66GHz
1024MB DDR2 RAM
ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard"

The A8N-SLi is a S939 Athlon64 board & doesn't use DDR2 RAM...so what's up with that?

ok can someone please confirm that this memory is fully supported by this motherboard:

Crucial Ballistix Tracer Memory 512 MB DIMM 184-pin DDR 500 MHz / PC4000 CL2.5 2.8 V unbuffered non-ECC

because im not sure. It says 500/PC 400 on the link you gave me, and this memory is 500/ PC 4000? and plus the board information says it supports:

Four 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM sockets
Supports dual channel (128-bit wide) memory interface
Supports up to 4GB system memory
Supports DDR266, DDR333 and DDR400 DDR SDRAM DIMM

So how does the 500mhz/ PC 4000 memory fit in?

please help, im soooo confused

"ok can someone please confirm that this memory is fully supported by this motherboard:"

It must be a typo. DDR500 = PC4000.

Do you plan on overclocking the hell out of this thing? or do you just want the Tracer RAM because of it's pretty colored lights?

"to tell you the truth bro, i dunno"

You do realize that Tracer RAM lights up & flashes different colors? I thought maybe you have a case with a see thru side panel & wanted to show off the pretty lights? IMO, there's no point in buying it if you're not gonna show it off...it's almost 2x the cost of "normal" RAM
