Subject: Deus Ex very slow
OS: XP home
CPU/Ram: P4, 2Ghz/511RAM
Comment:

My parents are really restrictive of my gaming, so I'm still playing older games.
I finally fixed this error about the CD not reading, and now have a new problem: my computer runs Deus Ex (version 1002f) very slowly.
My computer surpases minimum requirments of the game like 8 times or somthing and yet its so slow. Im running minimal screen size (640x480), 16 bit (lowest), other effects: medium. It runs faster on the crappy school computer I've manage to install it on. It's slower and more choppy than when I played it on my P233 5 years ago.
Why is it so slow?
->As an attempt to speed it up, I closed all other unneeded programs except McAFee Security when playing.
->My computer stats is my signiture (below).

Dell Dimension 4500
Pentium 4, 2.0 GHz
Windows XP Home, SP1
512 mb PC2700
nVidia Geforce MX 420 64 Mb

I suggest closing all unnecessary apps running in the background, even the MacAFee. Just be offline when you play. That'll free up resources considerably. Hit ctrl+alt+del and see what other applications or programs are running that you can't see normally. Close any ones that don't apply to the game or whatever. Like updaters or music managers, etc. You know, stuff that microsoft and the like put on to supposedly make your life easier; what a joke. That's why I'm still a Win98SE loyalist. Anyways-try that.

Update your gfx card and motherboard chipset drivers. Update directx, too.

Hi,
My first question is are you trying to play single player or online?
And you should have no problems with those specs i know this game very well.. you are well above recomended.
There are patches for it.. get those and allso get a program called "EndItAll". That will help you bigtime with this and other games.
